Phyna Debunks Claims of Unpaid N100m BBNaija Prize, Blames Edited Video

Big Brother Naija winner and reality TV star, Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has dismissed claims that she said she did not receive her N100 million grand prize, describing the allegation as a deliberate misrepresentation of her words.

Phyna made the clarification during a Twitch livestream after a short video clip went viral on social media, sparking renewed controversy over the status of her winnings. According to her, the circulating clip was selectively edited from a longer conversation to create a false narrative.

She explained that she was responding to critics who questioned her financial standing, not alleging that the organisers of the show withheld her prize money.

“They keep cutting my video. I never said I have not received my N100 million. I was only responding to people who were asking if the money had finished,” she said.

The reality star warned bloggers and content creators to stop altering her videos, noting that she would not hesitate to take legal action if such edits caused reputational damage or misunderstandings.

Phyna added that she had already clarified the issue to the organisers of the show, urging them and the public to watch the full Twitch video for proper context.

The controversy follows her 2024 comments criticising the organisers of Big Brother Naija over delays in settling some prizes, a matter that reignited public debate. However, Multichoice, organisers of the reality show, have consistently maintained that all prize obligations to Phyna have been fully met.

Phyna has since called on the public to disregard misleading clips and rely on verified, full-length content for accurate information.
