Mrs Josephine Piyo, the Deputy Governor of Plateau, has called on the residents of the state to pray for the success of the current administration in the state.
Piyo made the call during the child dedication of Mr Dan Kwada, the Senior Special Assistant on Middlebelt Nationalities to Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, on Sunday in Jos.
The dedication held at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Bishara 1, Adebayo street, Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Piyo, who decried the current security challenges in the state, called on residents to pray and support the government to overcome them.
The deputy governor, who maintained that the governor means well for the state, said that he had put modalities on ground for the safety of all citizens.
“We want to thank Plateau people for the support they have so far accorded this administration.
“We are, however, calling on you all to continue to pray for us to serve you faithfully.
“We need your prayers for Plateau to succeed; there are evil plans against the state, so, your prayers will go long way.
“The governor means well for the state, he respects the people; he is doing everything possible to promote peace and tranquility in the state,” she said.
Earlier, Kwada, who thanked God for His faithfulness upon his family, also called on Plateau residents to support the current administration to succeed.
Kwada, who also described Mutfwang as a detribalised and great leader, insisted that his developmental strides were visible for all to see.
In his sermon, Rev. Ayuba Asheshe, the General Secretary of ECWA, called on all government officials to be faithful to their oath of office.
Asheshe, who commended Mutfwang for his efforts in promoting peace and unity in the state, however, called on the government to intensify efforts towards securing rural communities in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Gabriel Dewan, the Speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly, Mr Samuel Jatau, the Secretary to the State Government, Chairmen of LGAs and serving Commissioners, attended the event.
Also present at the event were serving and former members of National and State assemblies, among other government officials.
