Planned Power Outages: Cape Town Announces 7-Hour Maintenance Interruptions

The City of Cape Town has announced a series of planned electricity supply interruptions in Bonteheuwel, scheduled for February, to carry out critical maintenance work.

According to the municipality, the outages will occur over four days: 4, 12, 18, and 26 February, between 08:30 and 16:00. The affected areas are specified in outage maps available online.

Tuesday, 4 February 2025: Candlewood, Citrus, Bluegum. Wednesday, 12 February 2025: Cassia, Canal, Als. Tuesday, 18 February 2025: Disselweg, Bessieweg, Essenhout. Wednesday, 26 February 2025: Turksvy, Vuurpyl, Taaibos, Teak, Soetdoring

Residents are advised to treat electrical installations as live throughout the maintenance period, as power could be restored at any time. To avoid damage from power surges, the City recommends switching off appliances during the interruptions.

“The City apologizes for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their understanding and cooperation,” the municipality stated.
