The Plateau State Government has rescued 16 children who were trafficked to Anambra State, reaffirming its commitment to protecting vulnerable minors.

The children were officially handed over to Mrs. Miriam Riti, wife of the Bassa Local Government Chairman, by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development at the J. D. Gomwalk Secretariat in Jos.

One of the parents, Mrs. Asabe Agidi, expressed gratitude to the government, noting that her daughter was among those rescued. She said as a widow, she initially believed her daughter was being taken for a better opportunity, not realizing it was a trafficking scheme. She pledged to care for her child with the little she has.

The state government emphasized that monitoring the presence and movement of children within communities remains a priority to prevent exploitation and ensure their well-being.
