Police Arrest 12 Suspects in Robbery That Claimed Life of Arise TV Staff, Key Suspect Speaks
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 12 suspects in connection with the armed robbery incident that led to the death of Arise TV reporter, Sommie Maduagwu.
During interrogation, one of the suspects, identified as Sani Sirajo, who served as the gang’s driver, narrated his role in the tragic incident. According to him, while the robbery was taking place, he remained in the car and noticed the victim, Sommie, hanging from a balcony. Sirajo claimed he rushed upstairs in an attempt to help her but could not hold on due to her weight, leading to her fall from the three-storey building.
Another suspect, Shamsudeen Hassan, confessed to shooting the security guard on duty after the guard tried to prevent the robbers from entering the apartment. Shamsudeen also admitted that he drove away a white Honda CR-V belonging to the victim after the operation.
Four other members of the gang reportedly confessed to receiving ₦200,000 each from the proceeds of the crime.
The FCT Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend any remaining suspects and ensure justice for the slain journalist.
