He said that during the arrest the operatives recovered a Honda Cub 120 motorcycle and a machete from the suspect.
The police spokesperson said that police operatives attached to the Otolo-Nnewi Police Station arrested the suspect after a series of complaints and monitoring.
“According to the statement, Police Operatives attached to the Otolo- Nnewi Police Station on May 29 arrested one Nnaji Chukwuka, male, 20, who is a member of an armed robbery gang.
“Chukwuka specialises in snatching motorcycle and terrorising Nnewichi, Nnewi North LGA. The operatives recovered one Honda Cub 120 motorcycle and a machete from the suspect.
“The arrest follows the painstaking efforts of the operatives who had monitored the pattern of the criminal operations and based on series of complaints about the activities of the gang in the area,’’ he said.
According to him, the suspect has made useful statements aiding the investigation for possible arrest of the other fleeing gang members.
Ikenga said that the owner of the stolen motorcycle had been identified and the bike released accordingly.
