The Delta State Police Command has identified the body of a young woman found along DLA Road in Asaba last Thursday as Miss Precious Yusuf, a 23-year-old resident. Her body was discovered opposite Falcon Club, prompting an investigation by authorities.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, a distress call alerted police on October 24, at around 8:40 a.m., about a female corpse found at the roadside. Responding swiftly, CSP Rex Abiodun and his team removed the body, which was later confirmed as that of Yusuf.
Preliminary findings indicate that Yusuf informed a friend on October 22 that she was meeting a man she had connected with on a dating site. She reportedly left home that day to meet him in Coka. The following morning, she called her friend to say she was heading back, but contact was lost afterward.
The body has been transferred to a mortuary for an autopsy. Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olufemi Abaniwonda, assured Yusuf’s family and the public that justice will be pursued.
Commissioner Abaniwonda also cautioned young women to exercise vigilance when interacting with people met on social media, emphasizing the need for caution in such relationships.
