Police Ministry, Academy Dismiss PSC Disclaimer as Misleading, Affirm Ongoing Admission Process

The Federal Ministry of Police Affairs and the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, have strongly dismissed a disclaimer issued by the Police Service Commission (PSC) regarding the ongoing admission process into the 12th Regular Course Degree Programmes of the Nigeria Police Force, describing it as “misleading and inaccurate.”

The PSC, in a statement issued on Thursday, July 31, 2025, by its Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, had disowned the admission advert published by the Police Academy, alleging that it violated established procedures and undermined the Commission’s constitutional mandate.

According to the PSC, only the Commission has the constitutional authority to appoint persons into the Nigeria Police Force—a position it said has been upheld by both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

However, in a swift reaction on Friday, the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Bolaji Kazeem, speaking on behalf of the Police Academy, affirmed that the admission process remains valid and is being carried out in accordance with the approved guidelines.

“The attention of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, and the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs has been drawn to a misleading and inaccurate disclaimer issued by the Police Service Commission on 31st July 2025,” the ministry said in a statement. It added that the PSC’s claim is “legally baseless and misleading.”

The ministry further clarified that the ongoing admission exercise is being conducted in line with the regulations of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs, and that the PSC has no constitutional role in university admissions.

It urged prospective applicants and the general public to disregard the PSC’s disclaimer, adding that the online application portal remains open, with the submission window running from July 28 to September 8, 2025, as earlier announced.
