Police Probe Mysterious Deaths of Two Nollywood Crew Members Found in Car in Lekki

The Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department has launched an investigation into the unexplained deaths of two Nollywood production crew members discovered lifeless inside a parked vehicle in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.

The victims have been identified as Godstime Imeh, a lighting director and CEO of GeeTee Light, and Walter Odediran, a creative video director popularly known as Director Carrinqton.

Their bodies were found on the evening of Saturday, February 7, 2026, inside Imeh’s tinted Nissan vehicle at a filming location reportedly being used for a movie directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore.

According to sources who spoke with Vanguard, the two men arrived early to set up lighting equipment for a medical scene scheduled to be filmed at Evercare Hospital. After completing the installation mid-morning, they reportedly decided to rest inside Imeh’s car while awaiting further instructions.

At about 11 a.m., a crew member delivered breakfast—yams and an omelette—to the pair, who were said to be reclining in the vehicle with the air-conditioning running. Concern grew when repeated calls to their phones went unanswered. Later that evening, after filming wrapped, colleagues discovered them motionless in the car.

Walter’s elder brother, Kola Odediran, described the incident as shocking and deeply painful.

“Walter and I were like twin brothers. He was 36 and the last-born of our family. He was very close to Godstime Imeh. They worked hand-in-hand on movie productions,” he said.

Recounting the events, he added: “They had a medical scene to shoot at Evercare Hospital. Around 10 a.m., they went to rest inside GeeTee’s car. Food was delivered to them; that was the last time anyone saw them alive. Around 7 or 8 p.m., after shooting wrapped, they were found inside the car.

“My brother was seated upright with foam at his mouth, while GeeTee was slumped, with blood from his nose, eyes, and mouth. It appeared whatever happened occurred suddenly.”

Odediran also criticised the initial police response, saying the case was first reported at Maroko Police Station but was not treated urgently, prompting the family to escalate it to SCID, Yaba, where it was officially documented as an unnatural death requiring investigation and autopsy.

Police sources confirmed that the film producer, the food vendor, the crew member who delivered the meal, and hospital management have all been questioned, with the food vendor currently in custody.

Forensic Investigations Ongoing

Investigators are examining multiple possibilities, including food ingestion, environmental factors, and mechanical issues. Authorities are also probing the presence of heavy-duty industrial generators located above the parking area to determine whether fumes or environmental hazards may have contributed to the deaths.

Forensic procedures, including autopsy, toxicology tests, mechanical inspection of the vehicle, and review of CCTV footage, are ongoing. Police say all possibilities remain open pending laboratory analyses.

Describing the loss as devastating, Odediran said: “It has been very difficult for our family. My mother is devastated. He was the last-born. We were just two male children. This has been extremely painful for us.”
