Police Summon Nollywood Star Tonto Dikeh for Defamation, Cyberbullying Probe

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has been summoned to the Force Headquarters for questioning.

This invitation is part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, forgery, and criminal conversion.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the invitation was issued under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit. The unit is handling the high-profile case, which has drawn significant public interest due to the actress’s fame.

The invitation letter, dated August 5, 2024, and signed by DCP A.A. Elleman, Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, mentioned that Dikeh’s name prominently appears in the investigation. She was requested to appear at the Force Headquarters on August 7, 2024, to clarify the allegations.

The letter stated, “This office is investigating a case of criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector-General of Police, in which your name and others feature prominently. Given the above, you are kindly requested to attend an interview with the undersigned through SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on 7th August 2024 at 10:00hrs to shed more light on the allegations. Your usual cooperation in this regard would be highly appreciated.”

ACP Adejobi added that Dikeh was invited following a petition against her and was later released after providing her statement. The investigation remains ongoing.
