An unidentified projectile struck within the premises of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant on Tuesday night, according to Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEO), marking the second such incident in just over two weeks amid ongoing regional tensions.

The AEO said the projectile landed at about 9:08 p.m. local time but caused no casualties or damage to the facility.

In a statement, the organization condemned the attack, warning that targeting civilian nuclear infrastructure violates international laws and poses a serious threat to regional security. It also urged global bodies to respond transparently and responsibly.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed it had been notified of the incident, adding that the power plant remains operational.

IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi reiterated calls for restraint, stressing the need to avoid risks to nuclear safety during periods of conflict.

The latest incident comes eight days after another projectile reportedly landed near the facility on March 17, the first such occurrence since hostilities escalated involving Iran, the United States, and Israel late last month.

Situated along the Persian Gulf coast near Bushehr city, the plant is Iran’s only operational nuclear power facility. Construction began in 1975 but was halted following the Islamic Revolution. The project was later completed with Russian support, and its first reactor became operational in 2011.
