Promotion comes with responsibility, FRSC reminds newly decorated officers
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has reminded the newly promoted officers in Gombe State that their new ranks come with added responsibility which should be justified.
Mr Samson Kaura, FRSC Sector Commander in Gombe State, said this while decorating the elevated officers, on Thursday at its headquarters in Lafiyawo community of Akko Local Government Area.
Kaura said elevation comes with greater authority and opportunity which he said also demanded greater accountability.
He urged the officers to learn and understand their new responsibilities and work towards improving their commitment and dedication to duty so as to get more reasons to get more promotions in the future.
“I call on the newly decorated officers to see their elevation as part of the trust that the Corps Marshal has on you, which you all should justify.
“Promotion comes with added responsibility and so for those who have been elevated, they must work harder and be more productive towards ensuring that the reason for your promotion is justified.
“You all must work harder to save lives, ensure safety on our roads and remain focused to the mission of FRSC.
Kaura commended the Corps Marshal for taking measures to improve the welfare of staff across the country through various initiatives which he said promotion was part of.
“Promotion is part of the six cardinal policy thrust of the Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed to boost the morale and welfare of the personnel.
He said that the promotion remained key to encouraging officers of the corps to put in more effort towards achieving the vision and mission of FRSC.
He said that the promotion would help in boosting performance of personnel in the state which he said would translate to saving of lives and reduction of road crashes.
For those who weren’t promoted, Kaura said that “everyone’s day cannot all come in a day but in a turn-by-turn manner to reward diligence and hard work.”
He urged them to keep putting in their best and “someday, your turn will come because promotion is a continuous thing.”
Mr Shallmbila Samson, an officer who was promoted from Deputy Chief Inspector to Chief Inspector and who spoke on behalf of the newly decorated junior officers expressed appreciation to Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed and Kaura.
Samson said with the new ranks, he and his colleagues were now motivated to doing more for the corps and maintaining the integrity and professionalism required of their new ranks.
Our Correspondent reports that a total of 40 personnel comprising 36 junior officers and four senior officers were promoted and decorated in Gombe State.
