The State of Qatar has welcomed the adoption of the “New York Declaration” by the United Nations General Assembly, which calls for the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The resolution, backed by 142 member states, was described by Qatar as a reflection of the international community’s overwhelming support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to establish their state within the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.

In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the efforts of Saudi Arabia and France in drafting and securing the adoption of the declaration. The ministry reiterated Doha’s unwavering stance on supporting the Palestinian cause in line with international legitimacy resolutions.

Similarly, the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) also welcomed the decision. Its chairman, Sheikh Tahir Ashrafi, hailed it as a moral victory and “a return of the global conscience,” emphasizing that recognition of an independent Palestinian state was inevitable despite opposition from what he described as the occupation government’s aggressive stance against growing international consensus.

Ashrafi further reaffirmed Pakistan’s alignment with Arab and Islamic nations in defending Palestinian rights across international platforms and reiterated Islamabad’s support for the two-state solution under UN resolutions.
