The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has dispatched 58,000 food baskets to Namibia as part of Qatar’s continuous humanitarian aid to the country.

The shipment, totaling 1,745 tons, departed from Mersin Port in Turkiye on Sunday and is expected to arrive in Namibia within 5 to 6 weeks, according to a statement from QFFD.

The aid, directed towards areas hardest hit by desertification, includes essential items such as rice, cooking oil, soybeans, fish, chicken, and canned meat.

This latest delivery will bring the total number of food baskets sent to Namibia by sea and air to 63,500, weighing approximately 1,925 tons.

It follows an earlier airlift that delivered 5,500 food baskets, weighing around 180 tons, as part of Qatar’s ongoing efforts to combat food insecurity in the region.
