American rapper Max B has been released from prison after serving 16 years of a reduced sentence. The Harlem-born artist, whose real name is Charley Wingate, walked free on Sunday, marking the end of a lengthy legal battle stemming from a 2007 robbery that resulted in one fatality.

Max B was initially convicted in 2009 and handed a 75-year prison term, although he was not physically present at the scene of the crime. His legal team successfully appealed the case, leading to a reduced sentence of 20 years in 2016, according to Daily Mail.

Throughout his incarceration, Max B maintained his musical presence. He recorded vocals over the phone and released several projects, including Vigilante Season. He also continued to collaborate with close friend and fellow rapper French Montana, who publicly celebrated his release and shared videos of their reunion.

Shortly after regaining his freedom, Max B made a public appearance at an NFL game, where he appeared energized and optimistic. When asked about the long journey to his release, he stated, “They gave me 75, but I’m back.”

His return has sparked excitement among fans and peers in the hip-hop community, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the once-incarcerated rap figure.
