Rapper Ralan Styles, best known for his viral remix of “Baby Shark,” has been tragically shot dead at the age of 22 during an alleged street robbery in Columbus, Ohio.
Styles, whose real name was Michael Robinson, was killed in the early hours of Saturday morning, October 19. According to witnesses, the incident occurred when an assailant attempted to steal Styles’ necklace, leading to a confrontation in which he was shot multiple times.
Police were called to the Victorian Village neighborhood just before 5 a.m. and discovered Styles bleeding from gunshot wounds. Despite their attempts to perform CPR while awaiting an ambulance, he was pronounced dead at 5:10 a.m. after efforts to resuscitate him failed.
A 24-year-old man named Mahamood Hassan has been arrested in connection with the incident. Witnesses provided a detailed description of the suspect, who was later identified in a police lineup. Hassan has been charged with murder and is currently held at Franklin County Jail, awaiting court proceedings.
In an emotional tribute on Instagram, Styles’ brother, rapper Lil Goat, expressed his heartbreak, writing, “Not my lil brother man. I’m still waiting for you to call me and tell me this whole thing is a joke. My heart is broken; I’ll never be the same. We went from rapping at the lunch table in middle school to becoming superstars.”
Fans have also flooded social media with tributes, mourning the loss of the young artist. Styles gained widespread attention in 2022 for his remix of “Baby Shark,” which has garnered over 1.7 million views on YouTube. His other notable tracks include “Glocks and Raris,” “Bon Appetit,” and “Polyamorous.”
