Rarara: Facebook Ban Won’t Stop Me Praising Tinubu

Dauda ‘Rarara’ Kahutu, a prominent Kano-based singer, has stated that the ban on his Facebook page will not deter him from singing the praises of President Bola Tinubu.

Rarara’s Facebook page, which had over 1 million followers, was deleted on Saturday following mass reports from Nigerians after he shared a song praising Tinubu amid economic hardship. The song lyrics included, “Tinubu has made Nigeria great/ Northerners have said goodbye to hunger, insecurity and poverty.”

In an interview with DCL Hausa, translated by TheTrafficNG, Rarara claimed that those who reported his account had ulterior motives. He insisted that blocking his account would not change his support for the current administration. “Blocking my account will not change my stance or my support for the government. I sing for Mr. President, and I will continue to do that,” he said.

Rarara argued that Tinubu deserves recognition for his contributions to Nigeria, including initiating Facebook payments in Nigeria and establishing a ministry specifically for the North. He also highlighted Tinubu’s creation of the Livestock Ministry and the Northwest Development Commission to combat hunger, poverty, and insecurity.

The singer’s comments come as some Nigerians plan a nationwide protest over economic hardship in the first week of August. The federal government and President Tinubu have appealed to organizers to cancel the demonstrations. Actor Yul Edochie and singer Portable have urged patience, while activist DJ Switch called for unity ahead of the protest.
