Spanish football giants Real Madrid reportedly held an emergency meeting on Monday night following accusations of rape and sexual harassment against their star player, Kylian Mbappe.
The French forward, who denies the allegations, had been visiting Sweden with friends between Wednesday and Friday last week, staying at the Bank Hotel in central Stockholm.
On Monday, Mbappe strongly condemned a report from Swedish outlet Aftonbladet, labeling it as “fake news” regarding an alleged rape at the hotel on Thursday evening.
However, another Swedish newspaper, Expressen, later reported that Mbappe was under investigation by the police following accusations made against him.
According to French journalist Romain Molina, Real Madrid convened a crisis meeting on Monday to address the allegations. While the club has not issued a public statement, it remains uncertain whether Mbappe will be included in the squad for their upcoming La Liga match against Celta Vigo on Saturday.
In response to the claims, Mbappe’s representatives told AFP, “These accusations are completely false and irresponsible. Legal actions will be taken to protect Kylian Mbappe from these defamatory rumors.” Investigators and a forensic team were reportedly at the alleged crime scene on Monday, with local media indicating that the alarm was raised after the woman sought medical care at a hospital.
