Real Madrid and French football star Kylian Mbappe is facing allegations of r@pe and sexual harassment at a Swedish hotel, prompting a police investigation.
The accusations emerged shortly after Mbappe publicly dismissed a report on social media as ‘fake news,’ which had hinted at an alleged incident at the hotel where he stayed with friends last week.
According to Swedish newspaper Expressen, Mbappe is now under investigation by police following claims made about an incident at the Bank Hotel in central Stockholm. Mbappe and his friends had traveled to Sweden last Wednesday, leaving the country on Friday.
The alleged assault reportedly took place on Thursday, following Mbappe’s visit to Chez Jolie restaurant and V nightclub. He and his entourage later returned to the hotel in a black van.
Mbappe had previously shared an article about the alleged r@pe on X (formerly Twitter), calling the report ‘Fake News,’ and criticizing its timing ahead of a legal hearing.
Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet confirmed that local police are investigating the incident, which was reported two days later after the woman involved sought medical care at a nearby hospital.
On Monday, forensic investigators were seen at the hotel, but neither police nor the prosecutor in charge have provided further comments. Police spokesperson Carina Skagerlind declined to confirm whether Mbappe is directly implicated, stating: “The police can neither confirm nor deny such a case.”
As of now, no suspects have been formally named in the case.
