Italian football club, Roma have re-appointed Claudio Ranieri as their head coach for a third time.
Roma confirmed the appointment on Thursday and said Ranieri will transition into a “senior executive role” upon the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign, adding he will “have input” in the appointment of the club’s next head coach.
The club confirmed Ranieri’s return on Thursday, adding that the 73-year-old will transition into a senior executive role at the end of the 2024/25 season. As part of this role, Ranieri will serve as an adviser on sporting matters and contribute to the search for the club’s next head coach.
“At the conclusion of the season, Claudio will transition into a senior executive role, where he will be an adviser to the ownership on all sporting matters at the club. The search for a future coach will proceed over the next months,” Roma stated.
Ranieri, renowned for guiding Leicester City to their historic Premier League title in 2015/16, previously managed Roma in 2009 and again briefly in 2019. His appointment follows the dismissal of Ivan Juric, who was sacked after just 12 matches due to Roma’s poor Serie A performance, with only three wins this season.
Juric had replaced Daniele De Rossi, who took over in January following the departure of Jose Mourinho.
Ranieri now faces the challenge of revitalizing Roma’s struggling campaign while preparing for his future executive role with the club.
