Rotary Club Honours Water Ministry Perm Sec for Community Development Support
The Rotary Club of Abuja Community Development Initiatives has honoured Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his contributions to public service and grassroots development.
During a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja, the club presented the ‘Award of Excellence, Leadership and Service’, commending Pheelangwah for his integrity, leadership, and unwavering support for community development projects, particularly in rural areas.
“I deeply appreciate this honour and recognition,” Pheelangwah said, praising the Rotary Club for its consistent commitment to humanitarian causes. “Rotary International has shown dedication to transforming lives, and I am encouraged to do even more to support your initiatives.”
He emphasized that Rotary’s efforts had positively impacted millions, especially in underserved communities, and pledged continued collaboration with the club.
Rotarian Kate Adamu, President of the Rotary Club, said the award reflects the club’s commitment to promoting ethical leadership and service. “Your name came up during our board meeting and was unanimously approved for this award,” Adamu said. “Though the official ceremony was planned for last year, we believe recognition is never too late for someone of your calibre.”
She added that the honour aligns with Rotary’s Four-Way Test, which promotes truth, fairness, goodwill, and mutual benefit.
Also speaking, Rotarian Evelyn Onyilo, a former Assistant Governor of the Club, outlined the Rotary Club’s many achievements in vocational and community service. She invited Pheelangwah and like-minded individuals to join the club’s mission of social transformation.
The ceremony concluded with the formal presentation of the award and the Rotary Banner to the permanent secretary.
