Russell Brand to Return to UK, Denies R@pe and S£x Ass@ult Charges
British comedian and actor Russell Brand has pledged to return to the UK next month to face multiple charges of r@pe and s£xual ass@ult brought against him by the Metropolitan Police.
The 49-year-old, who currently resides in the United States, was charged on Friday with five offences involving four women. The alleged incidents span from 1999 to 2005 and include one count each of r@pe, indecent ass@ult, and oral r@pe, alongside two counts of s£xual ass@ult.
According to authorities, Brand is accused of r@ping a woman in Bournemouth in 1999, and of orally r@ping and s£xually ass@ulting another woman in Westminster in 2004. He is also charged with indecently assaulting a woman in 2001, and s£xually assaulting another between 2004 and 2005, both also in Westminster.
These charges follow a 2023 joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches, which brought forth allegations of r@pe, s£xual misconduct, and emotional abuse by several women.
Earlier this year, Brand revealed he had moved to Florida with his wife, Laura Gallacher, and their two children. They currently reside in a £1.9 million bungalow in Santa Rosa Beach.
Brand is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, he denied all allegations, stating: “I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a s£x addict, and an imbecile. But what I never was, was a r@pist.”
He added, “I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity… I now have the opportunity to defend myself in court and I’m incredibly grateful for that.”
Should he fail to appear, UK authorities could seek his extradition from the US.
