Russia Loses Over 1,100 Troops in a Day as Ukraine Seizes Key Settlements

Vladimir Putin’s military continues to suffer heavy losses in Ukraine, with recent data revealing that over 1,100 Russian soldiers were killed in a single day. The Ukrainian General Staff reported a staggering 1,120 Russian casualties in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of dead and injured since the war began to 600,470.

Prior to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the Russian Armed Forces had approximately 900,000 troops, with around 150,000 to 190,000 initially deployed for the invasion. Despite enlisting more soldiers since, Russia’s losses remain substantial, though the government has not disclosed the official figures.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky announced his forces had seized 92 Russian settlements and now control over 1,250 square kilometers of Russian territory, including parts of the Kursk region. The operation, Zelensky said, aims to create a permanent buffer zone to prevent further attacks from Moscow.

In the Donetsk region, Russian forces continue to advance toward the strategic city of Pokrovsk, where relentless bombardments and infantry assaults have put Ukrainian troops under immense pressure. Military officials in Pokrovsk warn that the city could fall within two weeks, urging civilians to evacuate.

Moscow has shifted some of its troops to Kursk to repel Ukraine’s incursion but has maintained its presence on the Pokrovsk front, where fighting intensifies daily.
