Russian military action in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson has left at least two people dead and three others injured, according to regional Governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

Prokudin shared the news on Monday, accompanied by images on his Telegram channel depicting burnt-out apartments in a multi-storey building impacted by the attack.

The Dnipro River has formed a dividing line between Ukrainian and Russian forces since November 2022, when Russian troops withdrew from Kherson to the river’s opposite bank. Despite this withdrawal, Moscow continues to claim sovereignty over the entire Kherson region.

Ukraine has been resisting Russia’s full-scale invasion for over two and a half years, with conflict intensifying in regions like Kherson where the front line remains active.
