The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) wrapped up its participation in the 11-day Exercise Cobra Gold in Thailand’s Korat province on March 7. Nearly 250 SAF personnel across air, sea, land, and digital services took part in the multinational drill alongside armed forces from Thailand, the US, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea.

Led by Chief Guards Officer Colonel Wong Pui Chuan, the SAF conducted training exercises addressing both traditional and non-traditional threats. The drills included planning for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

For the first time, the Republic of Singapore Navy’s Endurance-class landing ship tank, RSS Endeavour, collaborated with naval forces from South Korea, the US, and Thailand in ship-to-shore maneuvers. Meanwhile, the Digital and Intelligence Service participated in a cyber defense exercise to counter simulated cyber-attacks.

Additionally, SAF combat engineers took part in the Engineer Civic Assistance Programme, constructing a multi-purpose building for a school located 188km from the exercise site.

Exercise Cobra Gold, now in its 44th edition, is one of the largest multinational military exercises in the Asia-Pacific region. The SAF has been a participant since 2000.
