The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ekiti Command, Mr Sanya Adeoye, has advised motorists against excessive speeds and drunk driving to minimise accidents during, and beyond the Sallah celebrations.
Adeoye gave the advice during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.

According to the FRSC boss, only the living celebrate, so motorists should always check their tyres and ensure that their wipers are effective because this is the rainy season.

“Do not drive when drunk, avoid wrongful overtaking to reduce mishaps during the period and beyond. Many lives will be saved if motorists can adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations.

“Personnel and equipment have been mobilised for the sallah celebrations, while the command has mobilised 751 regular and special marshals for the activities.

“Ambulances and over 15 patrol vehicles, including one toll truck in case of any emergency, have also been released to cover the state.

“Standby rescue teams have been sensitised and effectively mobilised for traffic control in case of traffic congestions, especially at the Eid praying grounds,” he said.

The corps commander also said the patrol team had visited various parks within the state to sensitise commercial drivers against reckless driving and speeding on the highway.

He advised passengers to caution reckless drivers on the road to avoid endangering their lives.
