Sallah: FRSC urges compliance with traffic rules in Gombe
The Federal Road Safety Corps,(FRSC) Gombe State Command, has urged residents and motorists to ensure strict compliance with all traffic rules as they mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
Mr Samson Kaura, the FRSC, Sector Commander in the state gave the advice in a news conference in Gombe on Thursday.
Kaura said strict adherence to traffic regulations would help reduce crashes and improve safety on the roads.
He said that his Command had launched special operation that would run from June 5 to 11 as part of necessary measures to ensure seamless road use during the celebration.
Kaura said that no fewer than 620 personnel had been deployed to various locations in the state including Eid Grounds to ensure free flow of traffic.
According to him, one towing truck, four ambulances, nine patrol vehicles have been deployed to assist in traffic control within the state.
“We are urging Nigerians to adhere to traffic rules and regulations to ensure safer roads and reduce road crashes.
“This includes following traffic signals, obeying speed limits, and refraining from reckless driving behaviours like wrongful overtaking, excessive speeding, drunk driving and driving against traffic.
“Motorists must ensure that they drive at recommended speed limit like 35 km/h in built-up areas.
“We all must take responsibility for our collective safety and for the celebration to be crash-free,” he said.
Kaura further warned against under-age driving, advising parents not to allow their children to drive on the road, restating that such was an offence.
“This is to minimise the risks of crash while guaranteeing their safety and that of others.
“The FRSC in Gombe wish all residents a happy Sallah and safe celebration across the state,” he said.
