Nigerian-British bodybuilder Samson Dauda has made history by winning the 2024 Mr. Olympia bodybuilding title, along with a record-breaking $600,000 prize, the largest payout in the sport’s history.
The competition, held at the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, saw 15 elite bodybuilders vying for the coveted title in the grand finale of the 2024 Olympia. Dauda secured the top spot, outshining runner-up Hadi Choopan and 2023 Olympia champion Derek Lunsford, who finished third.
Dauda, a Lagos-born athlete, moved to the United Kingdom during his teenage years, initially playing rugby before being introduced to bodybuilding by his rugby teammates. His breakthrough came in 2017 when he earned his IFBB Pro card after winning the overall title at the IFBB Amateur Diamond Cup in Rome.
In 2018, Dauda made his professional debut at the EVLS Prague Showdown, finishing 5th. His first major win as an IFBB Pro came in 2021 at the EVLS Prague Pro, earning him a spot at the 2022 Mr. Olympia, where he finished 6th.
Dauda’s 2024 Mr. Olympia victory solidifies his place among the sport’s elite, marking a significant achievement in his bodybuilding career.
