Sanwo-Olu Declares Tuesday Public Holiday for Isese Day Celebration
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has declared Tuesday as a public holiday in honor of this year’s Isese Day celebration. This announcement was made in a statement signed by the state’s Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, and released newsmen on Monday in Lagos.
Isese Day, observed in several states including Lagos, Osun, Ogun, Kwara, Edo, Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, and Kogi, is an official public holiday dedicated to promoting the identity and cultural practices of traditional religion adherents.
According to the statement, public offices, including courts, will be closed on Tuesday to allow for the celebration, with work set to resume on Wednesday.
This marks the first time Lagos State is observing a public holiday for Isese Day, following the United Nations’ designation of August 20 as World Traditional Religion Day.
