Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has congratulated the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, on the occasion of his fifth coronation anniversary.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, commended the traditional ruler for his contributions to the growth and development of Iruland and the state at large.
“On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, and our family, as well as the government and people of Lagos State, I extend warm felicitations to Oba Lawal on the celebration of his fifth year on the throne,” he said.
The governor described the Oniru as a seasoned administrator and exemplary leader who had consistently demonstrated commitment to public service.
“Oba Lawal has devoted his adult life to serving the people, first as a police officer, then in various political roles,” he said.
These, he said, included being the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to President Bola Tinubu during his tenure as governor of Lagos and later as commissioner under former Gov. Babatunde Fashola and himself.
Sanwo-Olu praised the royal father for maintaining peace and stability in Iruland and for using his experience and leadership to attract positive development to the area.
“The people of Iruland are fortunate to have a principled and disciplined traditional ruler who continues to serve with wisdom and foresight,” he remarked.
The governor prayed for continued good health, wisdom and successful reign for the Oniru.
“As Oba Lawal marks this milestone, I pray the Almighty grants him many more fruitful years on the throne with peace and prosperity for Iruland,” he said.
