Sanwo-Olu tasks new Perm. Secs on public service innovation

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Friday,  swore in 10 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, charging them to uphold integrity, accountability and innovation in public service.

The governor, who spoke at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja, said the appointees were chosen for their competence and record of service, adding that their elevation marked another step toward strengthening governance in the state.
He urged them to align their work with the THEMES Plus developmental agenda of the state,  which focused on transportation, health, education, technology, and sustainable growth.
“ It’s an honour to swear in 10 permanent secretaries on  Oct. 10. The date and the number is unique.
“Your new roles come with higher expectations. The state counts on you to translate our shared vision into measurable results.
“Teamwork, openness, and people-centred leadership should be your hallmark, this is a call to service,” he said.
He noted that effective governance required collective responsibility and urged the new permanent secretaries to engage their teams and the public with mutual respect and transparency.
“The future of Lagos lies in how we serve today. Let your leadership be marked by innovation, empathy, and a deep commitment to excellence,” he said.
The governor announced the redeployment of several senior officials as part of efforts to ensure optimal service delivery.
He said Dr Molulu Odufemi Otuolani had been deployed to Health District Six, while Mr. Soni Omotayo Nayedi would now serve as Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary for Education District II.
Others are Mrs Monsurat Alaka, posted to the Office of Internal Audit; Mr Muhammed Abatuli to the Office of Infrastructure; Mr Olawale Ojikutu to the Teaching Service Commission; and Mr Olufemi Paseda to Education District Four.
Also redeployed were Mrs Oluwakemi Garberdin-Adedeji to the Audit Service Commission; Mrs Ayodele Ayantola to Health District 1; and Mrs Toyin Ogunlana to the Cabinet Office.
The governor further announced that Dr  Aina Olubenga would move from the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Investment to the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, while Dr Ashina  Olawale would move from Education District Four  to District Three.
Similarly, Dr Oyetola Olufuga would move from Education District Three to District One; Dr Abimbola Amabugunje from Health District Six to the Health Service Commission; Dr Adebokun Oyekunle from the Teaching Service Commission to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture; and Dr Adetokunbo Bajulaye from Tourism, Arts and Culture to the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, said the latest appointments were part of a deliberate plan to rejuvenate the civil service and enhance administrative efficiency.
“I call you set of permanent secretaries the G10, this is call to service, be innovative,” he said.
He noted that the new appointees brought a mix of experience and innovation that would help drive the government’s policy direction.
The newly sworn-in permanent secretaries are: Dr Motunolani Omololu, Mr Omotayo Sanni, Mrs Monsurat Alaka, Mr Babatunde Onigbanjo, Mr Olutokunbo Oyenuga, Mr Olawale Ojikutu, Mr. Bamidele Paseda, Mrs Oluwakemi Garberdin-Adedeji, Mrs Toyin Ogunlana, and Dr Adeola Pitan.
Omololu, who spoke on behalf of the permanent secretaries promised to alligne themselves to the THEMES plus agenda.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that this batch brings the number of permanent secretaries  sworn in by Sanwo-Olu to 12,  the highest in the history of Lagos state.
