Sanwo-Olu urges LG empowerment beneficiaries to shun selling items

Gov. Babajide Sanwo – Olu, of Lagos State has urged beneficiaries of the multi million naira youth empowerment by the Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, to shun selling the items.

The governor urged them to make judicious use of the items for self reliance.

Sanwo-Olu gave the advice on Thursday at the annual Youth Empowerment Summit organised by the local government area.

The governor was represented by the Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Bolaji Kayode-Roberts.

He said he was overwhelmed by the good works of the council, lauding the chairman, Mr Fatai Ayoola for empowering 4,800 youths in various vocations.

“We thank you for maintaining the ideology of the All Progressives Congress (APC). We are happy with this youth mega empowerment.

“Ajeromi local government is going along with the development agenda of the APC, and as we can see, a lot of people will benefit and be taken out of poverty to the next level.

“We are appealing to you not to sell items given to you, we advice you to use it judiciously and expect more if you utilise it well,” the governor said.

The council chairman in his remarks, said the empowerment project for 4,800 youths in the community gulped over N500 million.

“We have committed more than N500 million to this initiative, where 4,800 beneficiaries are going home with nothing less than N100, 000 each after their vocational skills training.

“We have trained them on farming, ICT, music production, hair dressing, fashion designing, carpet making, shoe making and painting.

“We also trained them on car tracking, AC fixing, CCTV and other installation information.

“We selected these skills because we believe that these skills will make the youths to be at par with their contemporaries anywhere in the world and we believe these skills meet global demands,” he said.
