The Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) Nigeria has commended the efforts of Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State in developing agriculture, even before he officially receives a Special Recognition Award.

This is contained in a news release signed by Moses Nongoatse Communication officer Sasakawa and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

He said the award will be given at the 2026 SAA Nigeria Annual Stakeholders Workshop on April 9 in Abuja, adding that the governor has already shown strong commitment through years of support for farmers and agricultural programmes.

According to Nongoatse, the recognition is based on long-term work and partnership, not just a single achievement.

He said Gombe State has become a good example of how government support can improve farming and rural life.

The communication officer explained that its partnership with Gombe State, supported by the Nippon Foundation, has helped farmers increase production, learn new methods, and improve their incomes.

“The Country Director, Godwin Atser, said the award shows the importance of leaders who take agriculture seriously.

He said Governor Yahaya’s actions prove that real progress could be made when leaders invest in farmers and work closely with partners.

“Several programmes have been carried out under this partnership, helping farmers with training, savings schemes, better seeds, and access to markets,” he said.
