Saudi Arabia Approves Dantata’s Burial in Madina Near Wife’s Grave
Saudi Arabian authorities have approved the burial of renowned Nigerian businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in Madina, close to the grave of his late wife, Hajiya Rabi’a Dantata, who passed away in 2023.
The announcement was made on Sunday by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Junaid, via his official Facebook page.
“Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah… I have received approval to take Aminu Alhassan Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina. He will be buried tomorrow morning by the grace of Allah,” Junaid posted.
Dantata died in Dubai at the age of 94 following a brief illness. His death sparked nationwide mourning in Nigeria, with tributes pouring in from political leaders, business figures, and religious clerics, all honoring his legacy of philanthropy, integrity, and service to the nation.
A special Islamic funeral prayer (Salatul Ga’ib) was held on Saturday in Kano, attended by thousands, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and other dignitaries.
The Dantata family had earlier disclosed the late business icon’s wish to be laid to rest in the holy city of Madina—an aspiration now fulfilled with the Saudi government’s consent.
