Saudi King, Crown Prince Condole Iran Over Deadly Bandar Abbas Port Explosion

Saudi Arabia has extended condolences to Iran following the deadly explosion at Bandar Abbas Port that claimed at least 18 lives and injured hundreds.

On Sunday, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, sent a message of sympathy to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, expressing heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishing the injured a swift recovery, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, also sent a separate message, offering sincere condolences to President Pezeshkian and the bereaved families, while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday when a massive explosion and fire broke out at the Shahid Rajaee section of the Bandar Abbas Port in southern Iran, killing at least 18 people and injuring more than 700 others, Reuters reported.

In response, Iran’s President Pezeshkian ordered an immediate investigation into the cause of the explosion and dispatched the Interior Minister to the site.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement expressing deep sympathy to the Iranian government and the families affected by the explosion. The Ministry also announced Saudi Arabia’s readiness to provide any assistance needed in the aftermath of the tragedy.
