Senegal is mourning the tragic death of young goalkeeper Cheikh Touré, who was found dead in Ghana after being kidnapped by fraudsters posing as football scouts. The country’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday.

According to authorities, Touré was deceived by a group of impostors who lured him to Ghana with promises of a professional football trial with a top club. Filled with hope for his career, the young athlete travelled to Ghana, unaware that he was walking into a deadly trap.

Reports indicate that the fake scouts abducted Touré upon his arrival and later demanded a ransom from his family. Despite frantic efforts, his relatives were unable to meet the kidnappers’ demands, leading to his tragic death.

The Senegalese government said it is working closely with Ghanaian authorities to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

Cheikh Touré was remembered by friends and teammates as a humble, hardworking, and talented goalkeeper with a promising future ahead of him.
