Senior Lawyer Akintunde Clinches Victory at 2024 NBA Golf Tournament
Ayodele Akintunde, SAN, emerged as the champion of the 2024 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference (AGC) Golf Tournament, held on Tuesday at Ikoyi Club 38 in Lagos. Akintunde outperformed over 111 competitors, including lawyer golfers and special guests from across Nigeria, to secure his victory.
According to a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, Akintunde scored a gross of 90, playing with a handicap of 21, and finished with a net score of 69. He excelled in Category 3, for golfers with handicaps ranging from 18.5 to 28, and ultimately claimed the overall tournament title.
While receiving his trophy, Akintunde attributed his success to perseverance and determination. “This victory is something I have worked towards for a long time. After near misses in Port Harcourt and the previous AGC in Lagos, I came into this tournament more determined than ever,” he said.
Akintunde, who participated in multiple golf events leading up to the tournament, including the NBA Section on Business Law Charity Golf Tournament where he was the runner-up, reflected on how practice shaped his game. “Playing several rounds this week helped me stay sharp, and today, I was focused on winning.”
The 2024 NBA AGC Golf Tournament was part of the series of events organized for this year’s conference, and Akintunde’s triumph highlights the competitive spirit of the event. The prize presentation ceremony was held at a celebratory dinner at Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.
