Shiite Militia Group Claims Drone Strike on Israeli Base

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a Shiite militia group, has claimed responsibility for a drone strike on an Israeli military base of the Golani Brigade within the occupied territories on Monday.

In a statement released by the group, it announced that the attack was carried out in solidarity with the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, vowing to continue targeting what it described as “enemy strongholds.” The statement, however, did not specify details about the location of the strike or any casualties.

This incident follows a series of drone and missile attacks launched by the militia on Israeli targets on Sunday, amid rising tensions between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

Since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has repeatedly targeted Israeli and U.S. positions in the region in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.
