Slovenia Urges Arms Export Ban to Israel Amid Growing Tensions

1 1

Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob has called for an embargo on arms exports to Israel, according to reports from the STA news agency. Golob made this statement upon arriving in Brussels for the EU-Gulf Cooperation Council summit.

While acknowledging that such an embargo may not directly lead to de-escalation in the Middle East, the prime minister emphasized that discussions are ongoing regarding the ban on arms supplies and other potential measures.

This development follows reports from Israeli media that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin sent a letter to Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer. The letter warns of a potential arms embargo on Israel unless the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is addressed within a month.

Additionally, Axios reported that Israeli officials are committed to rapidly improving the humanitarian situation in Gaza in response to these concerns.
