On Thursday evening, high-ranking South Sudanese officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Hon. Monday Semaya Kumba as the Guest of Honour, gathered at a reception hosted by the German Embassy in Juba to celebrate German National Day.
The event also welcomed representatives from civil society, the diplomatic community, German humanitarian and development NGOs, as well as German military and civilian personnel from UNMISS.
German Ambassador to South Sudan, Christian Sedat, expressed gratitude to the attendees, recalling the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s earlier visit to Juba this year, where she emphasized the need for swift and full implementation of South Sudan’s peace agreement. Ambassador Sedat reiterated the importance of constructive dialogue to achieve consensus among all parties involved.
“The two-year extension ahead must take a markedly different approach,” Sedat said, stressing that Baerbock’s messages remain crucial.
He reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting South Sudan’s path toward peace and development, aiming to unlock the country’s potential and improve the lives of its people.
