The Sri Lankan Navy has apprehended 21 Indian fishermen and seized four trawlers for allegedly poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters.
The arrests were made during a special operation conducted off Delft Island on Wednesday, the navy announced in a statement on Thursday.
Following the operation, the trawlers and fishermen were taken to the Kankesanthurai harbor.
The detained individuals will be handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries inspector for legal proceedings.
The Sri Lankan Navy regularly conducts patrols to combat illegal fishing activities within its territorial waters.
