Nollywood stars Stan Nze and Tana Adelana were celebrated as the Outstanding Male Actor and Outstanding Female Actress at the 21st Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF), held at Silverbird Galleria on Thursday evening.
The 2024 AIFF, which ran from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1 under the theme “Beyond Borders: Bridging Cultures Through Cinemas,” recognized Stan Nze for his role as Kelvin in 12 Hours, a 25-minute thriller where he plays a Lagos-based photographer confronting a haunting midnight mystery. Adelana, meanwhile, earned her accolade for her role in Tender Hedges, sharing the Outstanding Female Actress award with Cameroonian actress Lum Nora Neba, who starred in the Oscar-nominated film Kismet.
12 Hours, directed by Tobe Anosike, also recently won Best Short Film at the 2024 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF), adding to its acclaim.
In addition to Nze and Adelana’s honors, AIFF awarded Tage IM Winter (Germany) as Best Experimental Film, The Forest of Honest Bees (France) for Best Animation, and Kaka (Nigeria) for Outstanding Music Score. Four Quarters (Russia) received the prestigious Golden Jury Film Award and awards for Best Feature Screenplay (Kismet, Cameroon) and Best Feature Film – Indigenous (Kaka, Nigeria) were also presented.
The AIFF continues to shine as a platform for showcasing cross-cultural talent and cinematic excellence in the African film industry.
