Popular Nigerian disc jockey and singer, DJ Cuppy, has stirred a flurry of reactions online after admitting she still seeks her mother’s guidance on basic cooking — at the age of 32.

The daughter of billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, made the candid revelation on Wednesday via her official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

“Making it big… but still calling my mum to ask how long to boil rice,” she wrote.

Her post quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions from fans and followers, many of whom expressed surprise that the successful entertainer still struggles with simple culinary tasks.

Some social media users saw the post as humorous and relatable, while others criticized the singer, suggesting that such a confession could affect her prospects of finding a life partner.

@Glorious2Smooth commented, “Cuppy you’re not supposed to say this online. You’re chasing your husband away unknowingly.”

@Khaytweets asked, “So you don’t usually cook for yourself?”

@Official_Patson quipped, “And you Dey find husband?”

@Adeyemoshield added, “Ahn Ahn Aunty. I am highly disappointed in you o, I mean at your age you don’t know how to boil ordinary rice? Are you for real or you are just catching cruise? All these rich man pikin self.”

Despite the criticism, some fans came to her defense, noting that everyone has different life experiences and skills, and there’s nothing wrong with learning or asking for help — no matter one’s age or status.
