British rapper Michael Ebenazer Owuo Jr., known as Stormzy, has been banned from driving for nine months after being caught using a mobile phone while driving his Rolls-Royce.

The incident took place on March 7, 2024, in West Kensington, London, where an undercover police officer observed the violation.

During a hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, District Judge Andrew Sweet described Stormzy’s actions as “dangerous and irresponsible,” highlighting concerns about his history on the road.

Prosecutor Alice Holloway also pointed to a prior incident in which the rapper endangered “vulnerable road users” by driving a Lamborghini Urus with illegally tinted windows. The windows, which allowed only 4% light transmission, fell far short of the 70% legal requirement.

Stormzy, 31, pleaded guilty to the offense in a written statement and accepted the court’s ruling. The driving ban underscores the importance of adhering to road safety laws, particularly for high-profile individuals.
