Thai authorities have arrested a suspected drug trafficker believed to be a key figure in a cocaine distribution network operating across Koh Phangan, Phuket, and Krabi.
The suspect, identified as Ugowma, is facing multiple charges, including possession of a Category 2 narcotic with intent to sell and illegal distribution of narcotics without authorization. He is currently being held at Koh Phangan Police Station as investigators continue building their case.
Police allege that Ugowma supplied cocaine in one-gram packages for 6,000 baht (approximately $175), with additional charges for deliveries to other provinces. To avoid detection, he reportedly avoided postal services, relying instead on couriers to transport the drugs.
Authorities described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in efforts to combat drug trafficking in Thailand’s tourist hubs. Law enforcement employed undercover operations and monitored digital communication platforms like WhatsApp to track the suspect’s activities.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to dismantle the wider drug network and bring all those involved to justice.
