Taraba University Freshman Found Dead in Boyfriend’s Apartment

A 100-level student of Taraba State University (TSU), Comfort Jimtop Oliver, has been found dead in her boyfriend’s residence in Jalingo.

Oliver, a Mass Communication student from Takum Local Government Area and a member of the Kuteb ethnic group, was discovered lifeless on Friday, September 12, 2025, in a room at the Bakasi area of Jalingo, near Dr. Rapha’s quarters, opposite the Vice-Chancellor’s gate.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear. However, police confirmed that investigations have commenced to determine the cause.

According to a senior police officer involved in the case, empty bottles of hard drinks were recovered beside the bed where the student died.

“By the time the matter was reported and our team arrived, no one was found in the house which has more than 15 tenants. The room’s occupant, believed to be the boyfriend of the deceased, was also missing and is currently at large,” the officer disclosed.

Authorities said preliminary findings are ongoing as efforts to trace the suspect and unravel the incident continue.
