The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported an attempted vandalism of its Tower T195 along the Ugwuaji–Makurdi 330kV transmission line in Benue State.
According to a statement by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, the incident occurred on Saturday at Watuolo village in Utonkon, Ado Local Government Area. However, the act was foiled by vigilant community members who noticed suspicious activity around the tower at about 3 a.m.
One of the suspects was apprehended by residents and handed over to the police, while others fled the scene.
Commending the swift action of the Watuolo villagers, TCN urged other host communities to emulate their vigilance in safeguarding critical power infrastructure.
“As we continue collaborating with security agencies and communities to curb vandalism, we appeal for increased vigilance, as residents play a crucial role in this fight,” Mbah stated.
