The ongoing controversy surrounding the death of late singer Mohbad has taken a new legal turn as a TikToker and their associate have been remanded in custody for allegedly defaming the artist’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba.

The defendants, identified as Saheed Osama and Uyime Udoek, were ordered into custody by Justice Ibrahim Kala of the Federal High Court in Lagos. The pair are facing a three-count charge including conspiracy, cyberstalking, and character assassination. Both pleaded not guilty during their arraignment.

Accusations Against the TikTokers
According to the police prosecutor, Anthony Iyeye, the two accused and others still at large used online platforms to spread false and damaging claims about Wunmi. They were also said to have carried placards publicly accusing her of being responsible for Mohbad’s death.

One placard reportedly read:

“Wunmi Killed Mohbad! Period! E No Go Better For Wunmi.”

Iyeye stated that the online posts and public demonstrations were not only misleading but also designed to tarnish the widow’s image amid an already emotionally charged national conversation.

No Bail, Trial Date Set
An oral application for bail was denied by the judge, and the case was adjourned to September 25, 2025 for trial. The accused remain in custody at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

This development comes in the wake of renewed public interest, partly fueled by social commentator VeryDarkMan, who has been vocal about seeking justice for Mohbad. VDM recently shared a controversial celebrity WhatsApp group chat allegedly tied to the case.

The court ruling has divided public opinion online. While some praised Wunmi for seeking justice through legal channels, others expressed skepticism or called for broader investigations.

Here are a few reactions compiled from social media:

  • @abeniolathemua: “I like the fact that she followed the law in due course… not police threats, just proper judgment.”
