President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to participate in the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit, scheduled for January 27-28, 2025.
The Summit, organized by the Tanzanian Government in collaboration with the African Development Bank Group and the World Bank, aims to accelerate progress on “Mission 300,” an ambitious initiative to provide electricity access to 300 million Africans by 2030.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the Summit will bring together African leaders, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and civil society organizations to address the continent’s energy challenges.
President Tinubu is expected to present Nigeria’s national energy strategy, a “compact” outlining the country’s roadmap for achieving universal energy access within the next five years. African leaders will also adopt the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which will provide a unified approach to achieving the Summit’s goals.
President Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to leading energy transformation efforts on the continent. He is scheduled to return to Abuja after the conclusion of the Summit.
