President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday posthumously conferred the prestigious Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) award on the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
The declaration was made during an interment ceremony held at the National Cemetery in Mogadishu, Abuja, in honour of the late military leader.
President Tinubu praised Lagbaja’s remarkable service and unwavering dedication to national security, describing his contributions as exemplary.
“The appointment of Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff was one of the finest decisions I have made so far,” the President said, underscoring the late general’s exceptional leadership qualities.
Dignitaries at the solemn event included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, several state governors, and top military officials.
